Press Release: HRD Antwerp, the commercial subsidiary of the Antwerp Word Diamond Centre (AWDC), officially inaugurated the Belgium HRD Association China during the Antwerp Week in the Belgium-EU pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010.

The Belgium HRD Association China is a new, noncommercial trade association established to promote networking opportunities between graduates of HRD Antwerp courses. It gives its members a direct link to the AWDC and provides up-to-date information about diamond industry developments while seeking to improve the dialogue between the Chinese and Belgian diamond sectors.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Antwerp's Governor, Ms. Cathy Berx, who traveled to the World Expo especially to attend the Antwerp Week events. The World Expo opened in May and continues until the end of October, by which time the organizers estimate 70 million people will have visited the site.

The Belgium HRD Association China will be located in the China Diamond Trading Centre in Shanghai on HRD Antwerp's premises.

Founded in Antwerp in 1976, the HRD Antwerp Diamond Lab today is one of the largest and most respected diamond-grading labs worldwide, with its certificates accepted internationally as documented assurances of a diamond's quality and authenticity. As the most prominent laboratory to adhere to the grading standards set by the International Diamond Council (IDC), which is an authoritative body created more than 30 years ago by the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and the International Diamond Manufacturing Association (IDMA), the Diamond Lab was the first industry laboratory to be officially accredited by the International Standards Organisation (ISO/IEC 17025). The integrity, objectivity and anonymity of the grading process are absolute.
