India's Polished Diamond Exports +4% in February

RAPAPORT... India's polished diamond exports improved 4.4 percent year on year to $2.298 billion in February, according to preliminary data collected by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council. Polished imports fell 15.2 percent to $405 million, leaving net exports up 18.3 percent at $1.893 billion.
 
Rough imports plummeted 23.2 percent to $1.121 billion, while rough exports fell 22 percent to $88 million, leaving net imports down 25 percent at $1.033 billion. India's net diamond account in February, reflecting the difference between net exports and imports, jumped 286 percent year on year to $860 million.

Meanwhile, rough synthetic stone imports jumped 46.9 percent to $6.36 million in February, while polished synthetic imports rose 68.7 percent to $6.68 million and synthetic exports fell 37.1 percent to $6.88 million.

India's polished diamond exports for the first two months of 2015 have jumped 26.7 percent year on year to  $4.091 billion, while polished imports have fallen 27.8 percent to  $778 million, leaving net exports up 54 percent at $3.313 billion. Rough imports have increased 32.3 percent to $1.972 billion, while rough exports decreased 42 percent to $195 million, leaving net imports up 29 percent at $1.777 billion. India's net diamond account for the first two months of the year was reduced  24.6 percent at $1.536 billion.
