De Beers, Soo Kee Extend Grading Deal

IIDGR will now offer reports to Singapore jeweler’s bridal customers in China.

The International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research (IIDGR) has expanded its grading partnership with Singapore-based Soo Kee Group into China, the De Beers subsidiary said.

IIDGR, De Beers’ gemological unit, launched the initial collaboration in February. Under the deal, the laboratory offers consumers its grading reports for the jeweler’s Lovemarque diamond collection, part of its bridal brand, Love & Co.

The companies noted a positive response to the original launch from customers. As a result, they have decided to extend the deal to the Chinese market following the retailer’s launch of Love & Co. in the country.

Strong bridal demand in China drove Soo Kee to expand its Love & Co. label into the key market, IIDGR added. The retailer intends to establish 550 points of sale, including franchised outlets.
