CIBJO Arranges Special Tours for Congress Attendees, Guests

RAPAPORT...  The 2015 CIBJO Congress, which takes place May 4 to 6 in Salvador, Brazil at the Sheraton da Bahia, opened registration for its pre-conference tours. A guided tour on May 2 will explore Salvador, focusing on the Cidade Baixa (low city), the famous Church of Bonfim and Mercado Modelo, a thriving market for local handicrafts.

A second tour, on May 3, dedicates an entire day to exploring the northern coast of Bahia, which is an area known as the Costa dos Coqueiros (Coconut Coast). This guided tour will visit the village of Praia do Forte, known as the Brazilian Polynesia,  a turtle farm and some scenic beaches.

In addition, organizers arranged a tour schedule for guests of attendees with a full-day exploring Salvador on May 4, beginning with the Farol da Barra, which is now Museu Náutico da Bahia (Nautical Museum). This tour will also travel through the neighborhoods that were  made famous by the city's celebrated carnival, and they will visit the Pelourinho, which has been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Moving from Salvador's upper city to lower city, it will conclude in the area of the Forte de São Marcelo (São Marcelo Fort), which was built by the Portuguese to repel a Dutch invasion in in 1650. On May 5, guests may register for a special shopping day.
