AnchorCert Academy Offers New Training Courses at Birmingham Facility

RAPAPORT... AnchorCert Academy, a division of the U.K. Assay Office in Birmingham, announced the launch of new series of one and half-day training courses to be offered by independent experts at its new, purpose-built facility.

The courses range in cost from $125 to $415 (GBP 80 to GBP 265). Spots can be booked and paid for online.

AnchorCert is offering the following courses:
 
“Understanding Diamonds” is a one-day course intended to help sales professional gain a greater understanding of cut, carat, color and clarity as well as diamond treatment, simulants and synthetics. The course is targeted toward retail staff with some experience selling jewelry and gemstones. The first course is scheduled to begin on September 15.

“Understanding Coloured Gemstones” is a course designed to provide an in-depth look at some of the world’s top-selling colored gemstones for jewelry, including sapphire, ruby, emerald and tanzanite. It will include a practice-oriented session to help participants gain greater confidence in identifying colored stones and their imitations. The first course begins on September 29.

“Understanding Jewellery Valuations” is an intensive course that outlines methods for valuing jewelry. It is intended for retailers, pawnbrokers and auctioneers, among others. The first course begins on September 24.

“Understanding Watches” is a one-day course designed to provide a basic understanding of the technical aspects of different types of watches. Participants will use standard tools to disassemble watches, determine possible faults and carry out maintenance repairs. The first course is set to take place on October 7.

“Understanding Hallmarking” is a half-day targeted to those working in the jewelry and precious metal trades, collectors and interested members of the public who want to learn more about hallmarking. It will include an opportunity to visit the hallmarking floor at the assay office in Birmingham. The first event will be held on September 17.

“Understanding Antique Jewellery” is a one-day long introductory course to help participants assess the value of second-hand and antique jewelry. The first course will be held on October 14.

“Understanding Consumer Product Safety Compliance” is a one-day course for costume jewelry and fashion accessories buyers that provides an overview of compliance requirements for precious and precious metals and accessories. The first course is schedule to take place September 23.
