RAPAPORT... The Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association (IsDMA) has appointed Avraham ‘Bumi’ Traub as its next president to replace Moti Ganz, who steps down after seven years’ service in the position. Ganz was elected as honorary president.

Traub, 61, who immigrated to Israel from the Ukraine at age 23, previously served as acting president of the IsDMA between 1993 and 1995 and has also served as acting president of the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE). He has also headed numerous committees during his many years of service to the IsDMA.

“Bumi Traub has a thorough knowledge of all the practical and managerial aspects of diamond manufacturing,” Ganz said. “We are in a period of struggle, and no one is a better fit than Bumi Traub to lead this struggle and put Israel’s diamond industry at the global forefront.”

Traub added that the industry is facing challenges that could impact its future. “I trust that the extensive experience I bring to the job as president of IsDMA will allow me to lead the Israeli industry in this changing world and bring it to new heights,” he said.
