JCK Events Team Expands

Prominent players sharpen industry knowledge and insight to deliver customer value.

Press Release: With the countdown to JCK Events in Las Vegas (LUXURY by JCK, Swiss Watch by JCK) inching ever closer, the JCK Events team has assembled a group of industry consultants who are focused upon a particular aspect of the industry. This team is responsible for creating deeper industry relationships with particular product categories or segments of the retail jewelry industry. This team reports into the JCK Events leadership team to provide critical insight, feedback and act as ombudsmen for their particular sectors and the JCK Events team.

"We are making real investments in JCK Events' current and future development," said Dave Bonaparte, group vice president, JCK Events. "The consultants provide us with another dimension of input that enables us to remain on the pulse of the industry; offer programs and services of value to both manufacturers and retailers and shape JCK Events to truly showcase the industry's passion for jewelry."

Joining JCK Events' roster of experts is Nancy Robey, who comes to JCK from another Las Vegas event. Nancy joins Steven Kaiser, Kaiser Time, who works with Swiss Watch by JCK and Jim Kerwin, Kerwin Communications, who is responsible for developing strategic alliances with consumer media on behalf of JCK; and Diane Hornberger, as JCK registration liaison. In previous experience, Hornberger served at Krementz for 20 years as director of product development/advertising manager and before that worked with Jewelers of America. Hornberger is a member of the WJA and serves on the LUXURY by JCK retailer advisory board.

The industry consultants are fortifying the already robust JCK Events team of industry experts. Bonaparte, a 13-plus year veteran of the JCK Events, was a founding member of and serves on the JCK Industry Fund committee, in addition to being a member of the 24-Karat Club of New York and southern California. Bonaparte is a strong supporter of the American Gem Society Jewelers Security Alliance, Jewelers Vigilance Committee, the MJSA, the Women's Jewelry Association and Jewelry Information Center.  He also works closely with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in their efforts to fund their vital research on behalf of the industry.  On a regional level, he works closely with the Jewelers of America and California Jewelers Association as well as many other retail organizations in a combined effort to develop programs designed to build that state's membership.

Yancy Weinrich, industry vice president, began her career in the jewelry industry more than 15 years ago with the American Gem Society. From there, she took a position as vice president of business development at Manufacturing Jewelers Society of America (MJSA). Weinrich is an immediate past-president of the Women's Jewelry Association and a chair of its advisory council. She is a recent inductee of the New York 24 Karat Club and has been a GIA career fair coach since 2002. She has presented at the WJA presidents council and the annual Women in the Know conference.

John Tierney serves as event director on LUXURY by JCK and JCK Toronto and has been with Reed Exhibitions for more than a decade. He also serves as group sales director on JCK since 2002 and continually responds to customers needs while augmenting value for their participation in the JCK events. Tierney and his sales team serve more than 3,000 JCK manufacturers globally. He has had a direct and meaningful impact to the JCK portfolio while serving the needs of manufacturers from more than 22 different countries. He consistently delivers valuable, positive results for his customers and he continues to serve the industry as a member of the WJA.

The JCK Events sales, marketing, conference and educational teams have, on average, eight years of service. They are actively encouraged to join and participate in industry associations and meetings. The team regularly conducts in-store visits and research with retailers, elicits feedback through pre- and post-show surveying; conducts between 240-300 conversations a day with manufacturers and conducts mystery shopper programs at all events.

"We're seeing really good results from the input that we are receiving from customers," Bonaparte said. "In fact, we have 100-percent participation from the Invited Buyer Program at LUXURY by JCK for the 2010 event; great brands in Swiss Watch by JCK and we continue to see good momentum for the 2011 event's move to Mandalay Bay."

JCK 2011 at Mandalay Bay is currently 98 percent sold out with the entire major industry associations and groups pledging their support. These include: The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA); Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC); Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers Association (HKJMA); Manufacturing Jewelers and Suppliers of America (MJSA); LUXURY; Plumb Club; Prestige Promenade; Swiss Watch and Vicenza Oro Italian Pavilion. These were among the very first to sign up for 2011 and support the move to Mandalay Bay.
