New Diamond Jewelry Trends from JA NY Summer Show

The big stories of the week came from De Beers and ALROSA, both of which reported strong first half results and these are summarized.  Meanwhile in Manhattan, the JA New York summer show 2011 came to a close. Take a look at  a few of the new diamond jewelry offerings that reflected market trends heading into the fall fashion season.

ISTA owner and head designer, Mevesh Ozagar, discusses her inspiration behind new designs introduced at the JA New York summer show. ISTA offers settings in hand-hammered or smooth, 18-karat gold, oxidized silver,  and natural gemstones including diamond, prehnite, emerald, ruby, sapphire, malachite, moonstone, lapis, tourmaline, rose, smoky and rutilated quartz.


Cristina V. pendant necklaces were popular with buyers at the JA New York summer show, according to designer Cristina Vitiello. The jewelry create by Cristina V. is described as eclectic and whimsical and includes necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings.


Baha Alphan, founder and designer at Baharra, shows his latest one-of-a-kind designs  incorporating vintage styles and old diamond cuts. All   Baharra  is created by hand from scratch in his family company's ateliers in Istanbul  and Izmir.


Mark Kivitz, president of Armand Jacoby, explains the process of setting diamonds in a high carbon compound to maximize the brilliance of these stones for earrings and pendants. Armand Jacoby created a process in which this technique allows the diamonds to be fully exposed.
