RAPAPORT... The Knot, a wedding planning and online resource company, recently announced the launch of a 20-piece collection of jewelry and gifts designed by luxury jewelry designer and philanthropist Joan Hornig.

The new line, named "Joan Hornig Jewelry for The Knot," features silver and gold-plated earrings, necklaces, pendants and cuff links that range in price from $30 to $375.   While the pieces were created mainly as fashion jewelry, many of the charms and pendants can also be slipped onto a ribbon to be used as bridal bouquet charms.

All profits from the collection will be donated to a customer’s choice of one of 30 charities, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

"From charitable favors to charity registries, brides are increasingly looking for opportunities to give back on their wedding day," said Carley Roney, editor-in-chief and cofounder of TheKnot.com.

Desinger Horning said that the charity jewelry line sets a precedent that she believes many companies will follow.

''Giving back is a lifestyle choice, and everyone has the capacity and opportunity to do so. The Knot's decision to leverage its large, active and ever-growing constituency will no doubt inspire others in the corporate world to follow their lead," she said.
