RAPAPORT... Lucara Diamond Corp. has unearthed a 223-carat, high-quality
white diamond from its Karowe mine in Botswana.
“[This year] is off to a great start, with several high-quality
diamonds in excess of 100 carats having been recovered by mid-February, a
testament to the strong, stable operating environment that has prevailed at
Karowe since late 2018,” Lucara CEO Eira Thomas said Tuesday.
The stone is the third over 100 carats the miner has found
this year. It also recovered stones weighing 127 and 240 carats last month.
Lucara will offer the three diamonds at tender in March,
along with other large stones, it said. Image: The 223-carat rough stone. (Lucara Diamond Corp.)
