RAPAPORT... Rajesh Exports Ltd. opened 20 new retail stores in the southern Indian state of Karnataka on Tuesday, coinciding with the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar to buy gold and jewelry and to make investments.

The Bangalore-based company, which sells its jewelry under the Shubh Jewellers brand in India, stated that the opening of new showrooms will raise its total number of stores in Karnataka to 76, and the total number of stores countrywide to 80.

Rajesh Exports said that it is planning an aggressive retail expansion program to help drive profits in the coming quarters. The company plans to establish 500 Shubh Jewellers stores by 2015.
